Sustainable Movement's First Community Pop Up Class

My birthday was on March 11th and I was in Tulsa, OK for Katy Bowman’s workshop for Restorative Exercise specialists. While that experience deserves its own blog, I want to share with you how I celebrated my 34th birthday while in Tulsa.

Aaron, owner of A.C.W.A Tulsa, hosted Katy’s workshop and is a good friend of mine. For the past couple of years we have gone back and forth via text about me teaching a workshop at his studio. I told Aaron that I was going to Katy’s workshop and asked if he wanted to offer a pop up class while I was in town to help build community and meet women who are planning on taking my Pre and Postnatal workshop this August.

I knew my birthday was the Monday after Katy’s workshop and I wanted to do something BIG for me this year. I wanted to take big action towards the life I want to have for myself and my son, Lochlan. I thought that offering a community class under my new business name, Sustainable Movement would be the perfect step forward, and Aaron was all in.

I had a shirt made and business cards ordered as soon as we agreed to offer a community pop up class. I knew this was the time to act. No more talking and dreaming. I am ready to serve, build community, and be brave enough to put my work out there.

It was a blast! 12 people came, all with different backgrounds, body types, and goals. Together we moved, laughed, and played games. It was so motivating to see people embrace Sustainable Movement. I am excited to go back to Tulsa to teach a 3 day Pre and Postnatal workshop (details will be shared soon).

An incredible group of humans came out and celebrated my birthday with movement, connection, and community.

I am so proud of myself for taking this step and I want to keep the momentum going.

I would like to offer Sustainable Movement Community Pop Up Classes in the northeast where I live. If you are interested in hosting one for your community, please send me an email to abby@sustainable-movement.com

The Sustainable Movement Community Pop Up Classes are meant to make movement and exercise education more accessible by offering a sliding scale for participants and to build community in a positively inclusive space. Here is what some of the participants from the Tulsa class have to say:

So awesome! Thank you Aaron, for creating some space for me to teach my first Sustainable Movement class. I am so grateful for the opportunity and I look forward to connecting with more amazing humans in the future.

XO,
Abby
